Eastside Community Network Helps Promote Digital Equity

Many low-income Detroiters have no computers and little or no internet access. In today’s digital world, that means extra barriers to accessing education, employment, and social programs. In a new effort to help level the digital playing field, the city’s Office of Digital Equity & Inclusion has recently launched eight new “certified tech hubs” throughout the city. One is located just west of Morningside, at the Stoudamire Wellness Center at Eastside Community Network, 4401 Conner, just south of E. Warren.

Morningside is fortunate to have computers at the Jefferson Branch Library available for use by residents and internet access at the Morningside Café. But the Stoudamire’s certified tech hub offers even more services, including computers to for residents to borrow, and computer training for those who aren’t as internet-savvy as they would like to be.

Technology 101, designed to teach basic computer skills, is offered there every Tuesday from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m.
