East Warren Cadieux Plan Enters New Phase

Six canvassers in Alger Theater T-shirts will be knocking on doors in MorningSide, East English Village, and Cornerstone over the next couple of months to talk to residents about the East Warren Cadieux Plan (EWCP).

As we’ve reported previously in The MorningSider, the EWCP is a strategic plan to revitalize these three neighborhoods through streetscaping, commercial development, housing stabilization, and park renovations. Residents approved a master plan in June, following a series of community meetings over the past year and a half. Implementation is slated to begin early next year.

In the meantime, developers want to drill down a bit to determine more specifics of residents’ opinions about development of the East Warren corridor. For example, how do you feel about mixed-use development (i.e. combining commercial and residential spaces?) What do you want to see in public spaces?

The survey is a collaborative project of Invest Detroit, East Warren Development Corporation, and the Alger Theater, which will oversee the canvassing. If you want to be sure that community development reflects your needs and desires, please welcome these outreach workers when they come to your door.
