Litter Be Gone! Clean Neighborhood Club Begins in MorningSide

Like our motto says, MorningSide is “a community on the rise,” but there are areas where piles of trash still litter our neighborhood and drag down morale. The Clean Neighborhood Club is ready to do something about it.

Our first volunteer clean-up will be held Saturday, April 24 at 10:00am. The location is 4800 Bedford, the corner of Bedford and Cornwall. We plan to wrap up by noon.

The project grew out of discussions with block captains, who felt that illegal dumping and litter were immediate problems we need to solve as a community. And we drew inspiration from 9-year-old, Kenzie Harris and her “clean up walks” from last fall, which we wrote about in the November 2020 newsletter.

The East Warren Tool Library has agreed to help, lending us any tools we need — shovels, rakes, wheelbarrows. Meanwhile, MorningSide Community Organization will provide trash bags and trash picker-uppers. Volunteers just need to bring gloves and good energy!

It's a great opportunity to meet neighbors and enjoy a cleaner community. Have a suggestion for a future clean-up? Please email us at morningsidecommunity2@gmail.com.
