Morningside Art Pop-up: Together with Friends & Strangers

Thursday evening, June 27th. I biked over to an art opening at Haverhill and E Warren. It's at the former Sweitzer Creamery building — which I actually only learned about recently after the new owner removed the exterior facade, uncovering the original "Sweitzer Creamery" signage (it looks awesome!).

As I rolled up to the building, I saw a mass of hip 20-somethings hanging out and socializing. Not your typical scene on E Warren and certainly a welcome sight and activation of space.

Inside, the building is stripped to the studs. It's gritty, smoky. Art is adorning every inch of the space. It's a group show called "Together with Friends & Strangers", and true to its name, the space is packed with artists and attendees. They're young and alternative, a little crusty, and having a great time.

I feel like I've been transported back in time to the ‘90s. Getting strong industrial vibes. Lots of chains and black clothing. Leather. There are old vice ads on the walls. A bartender slinging Miller Lights. Charcuterie to graze on.

I biked home thinking, 'What was that?'. A party? An art show? A fever dream? I dunno but I'm looking forward to the next one. :)
