Morningside Dazzles During 2024 Holiday Lights Contest
Morningside's 4th annual Holiday Lights Contest brought a dazzling display of festive cheer to the neighborhood this winter. Homes, businesses, and entire blocks transformed into winter wonderlands, resulting in over 30 nominations for our contest – many receiving multiple entries!
Following the same judging criteria as previous years — creativity, design, radiance, and location — judges faced the difficult task of selecting winners from among so many spectacular entries.
But without further ado, the winners of the 2024 Morningside Holiday Lights Contest are…
1st place: 4821 Devonshire
Taking home top honors for the second year in a row are Koleisha and Jernard Everett of 4821 Devonshire! Morningside residents since 2012, the Everetts have steadily transformed their home and yard into a holiday spectacle, and this year's display was truly unforgettable. Neighbors raved about it, resulting in numerous nominations. Their back-to-back wins are a well-deserved testament to their creativity and dedication!
2nd place: 4116 Wayburn
Claiming second place is Anita Williams , a Morningside homeowner since 2004, who transformed her house into a dazzling North Pole-inspired wonderland. The festive spirit was contagious, with many neighboring homes joining the dazzling display, creating a spectacular light show on the west end of our community.
3rd place: 3445 Three Mile
In third place, Mike Chateau's home at 3445 Three Mile Drive offered a display of understated holiday elegance. Subtle yet stunning, the lighting accented trees and hedges, while candlelight peeked invitingly from upstairs windows. This lovely display shone brightly on the first block off Mack Avenue.
Best Block: 5900 Audubon
The 5900 block of Audubon Street takes home the prize for Best Block, a testament to their close-knit community spirit. Turning from Harper onto Audubon, visitors were greeted by a dazzling array of lights, illuminating nearly half a dozen participating homes and creating a vibrant, colorful oasis of holiday cheer!
Best Business: Morningside Cafe
Finally, congratulations to Morningside Cafe (16369 E Warren Ave.), our beloved neighborhood staple, for winning Best Business! Their festive storefront, complete with colorful, illuminated presents in the window and a charming Christmas tree inside, created a warm and inviting atmosphere that truly captured the holiday spirit.
Thank you to everyone who participated – your festive spirit truly lit up Morningside! We look forward to another dazzling display of holiday lights next year.
